We put a new cedar fence in and it looks great! The fence was installed by Midwest Fence and they did a great job.
My dad and I spent a couple of days putting in this mudroom Bench and cubby area in the back of the house. We think it turned out real nice! We also finally got our couch from Macys and it is great in our living room! We now have a yard! Thankfully it rained last night and today so we haven't had to water the lawn too much! Front sidewalk and backyard sidewalk / patio are going in this afternoon! We are creating two different patio areas in the backyard to try to capture the morning and afternoon sun. We offset the walkway from the garage to the house in order to maximize our grass in our backyard.
We also bought some chairs for our center island from Pier 1. They are a cream color that is present in the backsplash and granite. Here's a panoramic photo of our marble tile master bathroom! The photo is slightly distorted as the room is approximately 11 feet by 11 feet. We are waiting for the glass shower door and mirrors to be installed.
The exterior paint is starting to go up on the house. You can see from the photo below the contrast between the original siding color and the new gray and white color. We will also have an accent color for the shake siding which will be just a bit darker.
The brick has been out up around the columns on the front porch and it looks fantastic! They used a brick veneer to give the look without needing to us the full depth of the brick on the pillar. We spent the weekend moving into the house, here are some photos from Friday night before we started moving all of our stuff in and then one photo taken from the stairs of all our boxes!
There are still some ticket items to take care of like the tile in the master bathroom shower isn't done yet and we are getting a yard put in soon as well. Overall, we are pleased to be living in our new home! There will be several small detail items that we will get taken care of in the next week or two and the big items like concrete walkways, patio, sod, exterior paint, and garage cleanup. It's been almost a year since started our home search and its exciting to be just weeks away from the finished home! The paper is off the floors now so you get a much better feel for what the finished kitchen will look like! The pendant lights are in along with the cooktop!
Carpet is going in upstairs and the closet wire organizers are installed as well. The front door has made its appearance but it still needs to be painted. We aren't sure what color we will be painting or staining it yet. The final coat of poly is going on the floor today and the tomorrow will be all the little details and a final cleaning. The backsplash is in, under counter lights are in, and the center island is in!
You can see the cut out for the cooktop and the island sink in the first picture. The faucet and cooktop will go in today. We no longer have a big pile of dirt in our backyard! The yard was graded today to slope the ground away from the house. It looks very nice and sloped to allow rain to flow away from the house.
Our dryer was installed on its pedestal and we have enough room to be able to access the doors on the washer and dryer! If you recall the giant box from before, it held our claw foot tub that we are putting in the master bathroom. In the picture below you can see it assembled before they move it into the actual bathroom. Low voltage and Internet cables are being wired up tomorrow as we push to be able to move in Saturday! |
